Winter weather event update #4

Español

The last week has certainly been a whirlwind, but I have been encouraged by the progress that has already been made to resume the 2020-2021 school year.

Our facilities, maintenance and operations teams have continued to work around the clock to assess, clean and disinfect, and make repairs to district facilities in order to prepare them for students this week. Their efforts will continue throughout the weekend to ensure buildings are accessible and safe for staff and students. There has been some positive momentum with local boil-water notices, as more municipal utility districts (MUDs) are lifting the notices that impact many CFISD campuses. While some notices are still in place, we plan to know more information by Monday afternoon and will provide an update at that time.

We look forward to welcoming employees back for the staff work day on Monday, Feb. 22 and students back to school on Tuesday, Feb. 23. It has taken a lot of teamwork and manpower to get CFISD up and running, and I am thankful for an outstanding workforce and community that has made it possible.

Thanks for a great year

Thank you for everything you have done to make the 2015-2016 school year a success. We faced a few challenges throughout the year, but as always, the positive experiences outweighed the negative.

And there are still more great things to come before 2015-2016 is over:

We began the first of 12 graduation ceremonies last week at the Carlton Center, and will kick off 11 straight at the Berry Center tonight with Windfern High School, wrapping up with Cypress Ranch on Saturday at 8 p.m. You can find Class of 2016 graduation information, including parking maps, live streaming links and more, by accessing the Graduation block on our website homepage.

Remember that Barker Cypress Road will be heavily congested when planning for travel. A “no bag” line will also be available at entrances 2 and 3 of the Berry Center for visitors who wish to accelerate their entry into the facility.

This summer will bring an exciting new chapter to CFISD, as we open our 11th comprehensive high school, Cypress Park High School, in August.

We are growing bigger every year, and opening state-of-the-art facilities to serve all students. I am proud to be part of a community where a high value is placed on public education, and I am glad to have you be a part of it.

Enjoy a restful and relaxing summer as we prepare for an even better 2016-2017 school year in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD!
