When a community loses a great man, who will be the next
person to step up? John Fox, by every definition, was a hero. He was a great
husband, a loving father and a doting grandparent. He also loved this
community.
When he passed away on Nov. 4 after a long battle with
cancer, the CFISD family lost one of its biggest supporters.
John
Fox, his wife Robbie and Cy-Fair Chamber President Leslie Martone supporting
agriculture science students by purchasing projects through the “Chamber Herd”
program at the 2015 Livestock Show and Sale.
Although I observed from a distance how he cared for his
family, I witnessed firsthand his quiet acts of kindness and generosity toward
his community every day. Whether it was leading the “Chamber Herd” to
raise money for deserving FFA student projects, chairing and serving in the Cy-Fair
Houston Chamber of Commerce, supporting the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation with
his time, treasures and talent or contributing to charities all around the
Cy-Fair community, John was a hero.
Although he was a leader, he never sought the limelight
or attention. John received satisfaction in observing the joy on other people’s
faces. He did not request or want accolades. He was a man of great dignity and
humility. He was a quiet hero.
The question remains, “Where is the next John Fox?” Knowing
this community, that person is already here. I’m really looking forward to
meeting them.
